Threads of the Earth

My work is rooted in the living spirit of Ukrainian culture — a heritage carried not only through history but through hands, patterns, and shared acts of care. I draw from the visual language of traditional embroidery, the tactility of river stones, and the quiet luminosity of porcelain to explore how culture endures and evolves.

These sculptures bring together two voices: stone as the keeper of memory and presence, and porcelain as a gesture of tenderness, clarity, and renewal. The cross-stitch motifs painted on the stones reference ancestral craft, but reimagined in a contemporary form. They become symbols of connection — to lineage, to community, to the hope that continues to shape Ukrainian identity.

Rather than preserving tradition as something fixed, this work treats it as something alive: continually transformed, continually held. Through these material pairings, I seek to celebrate unity, cultural continuity, and the sustaining power of beauty made by human hands.
